How office design can increase productivity

Posted by Umang Gupta on

What does an employee first notice when s/he steps into an office, even if that’s for an interview?

The answer is simple and obvious; ‘Ambience of the workplace.’ Yes, many may not consider that but surroundings have a great impact on how you perform. And it's not just me who says that office design plays a vital role in employee productivity but data suggests that creatively designed workplaces can increase an individual's productivity by 20 percent.

You may be having doubts on how exactly does recreating your office design will impact productivity and to clear all your doubts, we’ll be discussing the same today:

Office Interiors is directly proportional to productivity

  • Lighting is the key:

Have you ever tried to work with full-dedication in a dully lit up room?

Speaking from personal experience, I have never been able to work efficiently if the brightness of the room is not up to the standards. Dull lighting not only creates a depressing aura for employees but can also result in issues like headaches, screen strain(eyes), tiredness and more which in turn decreases productivity. Proper lighting is one such factor that can never be overlooked when designing any space and office spaces are no exception. Try to include both natural lighting as well as artificial lighting to make the workplace bright and see the results for yourselves.

  • Can’t compromise with the color of the room:

Colour has a very significant effect on our mood and emotions. Bright and jolly colors can light up the day for anyone, thereby contributing towards uplifting the productivity. Color act as an encouraging factor for the brain to function efficiently. However, you don’t need to add too many colors. A few bright colors can do the work for you. Two very popular colors that must be included in every workspace are green which is said to reflect creativity and blue that reflects productivity.

  • Minimize noise levels:

One major factor of concern that decreases the level of productivity is the disturbance caused due to high levels of noise at the workplace. When designing office spaces, it is to be kept in mind that it is designed to minimize the unnecessary disturbing noise that affects productivity. This can be done by opting for sound absorbing glasses, eliminating outside noises. Once you get rid of the annoying noises from your workplace, you’ll see a significant rise in the day to day productivity of your staff.

  • Provide comfortable furniture:

Comfort is directly proportional to productivity at workplaces and therefore comfortable furniture shouldn’t be overlooked. Data from various trusted reports suggest that back pain is one of the major reasons for low productivity and missed office days. Moreover, it is reported that almost 80% of humans suffer from back pain during their lifetime. Also, it is a known fact that one of the reasons behind back pain is the sitting posture (uncomfortable furniture). Offering employees with comfortable and back-friendly furniture not only ensures their well-being but also keeps them motivated to work, keeping health issues like back pain at bay.

  • Meditation room to refresh the mind:

The human brain needs rest every now and then and meditation is one way to release stress. Productive office spaces should be designed in a way that features a separate meditation room where employees can sit down to relax their minds and help them come up with better productivity.

  • Dedicated space for entertainment and recreational activities:

You might have heard “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” and this is true for all the Jacks(employees) out there. Continuously working for hours with no entertainment, ultimately makes an employee lose interest in his/her work. Even dedicated employees find it difficult to deliver their work on time when all they have is work all day long. Therefore, it becomes a natural part of any workplace to include a dedicated space for entertainment and recreational activities which has Table Tennis, Carrom, Pool, PlayStation, Television, etc.

  • Decorate with small plants when and where possible:

Naturally beautifying a place is the best option available when it comes to designing office spaces. Using small plants like creepers in your workplace not only makes it more attractive but also keeps the office ventilated with fresh flowing air. It is always wise to include plants and flowers(if possible) in your office space. And if you are wondering how this will affect productivity then the simple answer to that is freshness and fragrance can make any soul joyful which is a must when it comes down to uplifting productivity.

Conclusion:

So now you know the importance of office design in encouraging the employees to perform better every day. Create a place where employees feel attached to their work rather than getting distracted. It doesn’t require much, just a few minor but important changes and your perfect workplace is ready.

Every change has a reason behind it and in most cases the most basic reason is evolution. Same is the case with the rising popularity of luxury or Italian modular kitchens. So let’s start with what features make the modular stand out as the most preferred kitchen interior.

Features of Modular Kitchen:

Bringing the golden triangle rule to reality:

The golden triangle rule of designing a modular kitchen states that the hob, the sink, and the refrigerator should form a triangle, making it an ideal and functional kitchen. And modular are making it possible, lining up the three core access points of a kitchen to form a triangle and making it easy for the cook.

Bifurcated into different segments, the new age kitchens allow easy storage of utensils of different sizes, making it a hassle-free job to manage your kitchen.

    Posted by Umang Gupta on

We are already into a new decade, as we stepped into 2020. But the last decade witnessed some of the most remarkable innovations that will be influencing our lifestyles for a long time to come. One such innovation is the rising popularity of the Startup culture which has made the Coworking spaces a common workplace choice due to the low cost and employee-friendly interior and aura which coupled with comfortable furniture serve as cherry on top to get the best out of the employees.

Here we will be discussing how to perfectly design a coworking space. But before we get into discussing as to how Coworking space needs to be designed, here’s a simple definition of coworking space:

    What is a Coworking Space?

“ Coworking Space as the name suggests is a place where employees from many different organizations work under one roof. The prime motive behind renting a coworking space is its cost-effectiveness which Startups solemnly need.”

Now since you are familiar with what Coworking spaces are let’s get to the topic and see

what are the things to consider while designing a Coworking place:

How to design a Coworking Space

When designing a coworking space the most important thing to be kept in mind is that it should be designed in a way that the ambience of the work area should appeal to the coworkers and motivate them to be at work every day. The interiors and how precisely they are designed can make or break a place. Here are a few tips for designing an appealing co-working space:

Best use of the space available:

It is essential that the coworking spaces are designed with expertise and make the best use of every inch of available space. Coworking Spaces serve many businesses and it should be kept in mind that it should be designed with a common theme in place that serves all the different businesses present there.

    Game Room and other recreational:

Designing a Coworking Space that offers co-workers both fun and flexibility should be a top priority. Continuously working for hours with no fun at all can result in employees underperforming. This, however, can be uplifted if the Coworking place has enough space for recreational activities and/or indoor games.

You can start this with a TV cabinet designed in accordance with the space available which can be a good place to set a Television which when accompanied by a PlayStation can serve as a nice way to offer employees fun.

Also, a game room can be designed with indoor facilities like Carrom, Snooker Table, Table Tennis and more that can offer employees some extra space to chill out.

Mixing both small and large pieces of arts:

Art appeals to both the eyes and the mind!!

It is very crucial that Coworking places feature both small and large pieces of art which can add significantly to the interior beauty of a workplace. Hanging Gardens(artificial grass), artifacts, paintings, and other art pieces are a good way to make a coworking space adorable.

    Know your furniture designs:

Employees spend most of their time in the office on a chair. Therefore it is very important to choose furniture for your Coworking space wisely or to say it more precisely choose a “Furniture that is a true reflection of you.”
Furniture plays a very crucial role in beautifying the interiors of a place and therefore needs an extra touch of elegance that is both appealing to the eyes alongside providing comfort.

    Conclusion:

Interior Designing is not just a regular job it is an art and requires a passion to excel at it. It requires a keen eye for finer details to make the best out of any Interior space. However, when designing coworking spaces, it gets even harder to design the space with perfection as it can encourage the employee to perform better.

Designing a Luxury Home on a Budget

    Posted by Umang Gupta on

You live most of your life in your home. Make sure it’s a nice place to live in!!

Expensive looking homes are not always expensive. They are just designed smartly, thereby, exaggerating their cost.

Everything comes at a price and luxury homes are no exception to this fact. However, you can always lower the price if you have enough knowledge and expertise on the subject. No, I am not telling you to change your profession and become an Interior Designer overnight!! Sometimes a few tips and tricks can do wonders.

Today I will be sharing some secrets and years of experience about how Furniture Mama has been designing your dream homes without breaking your bank. So without wasting any more time let’s get straight to the point:

6 Tips to design your dream luxury home within an affordable budget :

    • Paint colour is of utmost importance:

Colors reflect an individual’s personality. Colors make everything more lively and the true beauty of any home interior is reflected only when the wall paint color goes well with the furniture, furnishings and other home decors. Using the right combination of different shades and tones that suit your personality makes the home more vibrant, creating a positive aura.

    • Incorporate Art:

Good art appeals to eyes like nothing else does!!

Using the right combination of both small as well as large pieces of art is the key to rejuvenating souls. Art defines creativity and can make your home interior much better than a regular home which barely has any creativity of the owner to leave the beholder’s gazing in awe. And the good thing with art is that it doesn’t necessarily need to be large and extravagant. A simple flower pot or a hand-made photo frame can significantly make the difference.

    • Less sounds great:

Yes, you don’t need to stuff each corner of your home. It can get messy both look wise as well as management wise. Less is good and especially if you have that keen eye for tiny details like how an end table can be reimagined by placing a few magazines on it or how you can use your bookshelf to feature small pieces of art(photo frames, laughing Buddha, etc.) to make your home interiors exquisite.

    • Crown Molding is still a game-changer:

Crown-Moldings are still the charmer and can significantly level up your home interior beauty. It unifies the ceilings with the walls and gives a classic finishing touch to your home interiors. Crown Moldings are more than what meets the eye as they can be used to create an optical illusion, making the room look bigger and beautiful. Apart from serving the purpose of perfect home decor, crown molding also increases the value of your home.

    • Modulars are easy and elegant:

Modulars have already overtaken the traditional kitchen and wardrobes. The reason behind their huge fan following is that they are SMART. Modular use every inch of available space smartly and coupled with their low maintenance and installation cost, modular kitchens and modular wardrobes can make your home

    • False Ceiling brings out the best of your home interiors:

False Ceiling, the aesthetic every house needs!!

Hanging out from the main ceiling, false ceilings are commonly made out of wood and serve as make-up over your plain ceilings, thereby masquerading the main ceiling with a touch of elegance and grandeur.

False ceilings are also used to hide any wiring and/or other fixtures that make the main ceiling look gross.

    Conclusion:

Luxury Homes are such a charmer, adored by all, owned by few!!

But luxury no longer means expensive, it rather means smart. Yes, using all the resources at your disposal to bring out the best of your dream home is smartness. And today we decided to share how Furniture Mama has been transforming your low-end home to an interior designing masterpiece.
